Our client, a major player in the Financial Services and Insurance industry, is seeking a high-energy Senior Technical Project Manager / Scrum Master for an immediate, long-term contract opportunity. This hybrid role is open to candidates based in either Toronto or Montreal.
...
This is not a traditional "status-taker" role. We are looking for a dynamic delivery leader who has evolved from a strong technical background (such as architecture, data engineering, or software development) into a hands-on Agile champion. You must possess the technical depth to understand complex data flows, enterprise system communications, and ERP frameworks, while demonstrating the leadership presence needed to unite teams and drive swift delivery.
Location: Toronto, ON or Montreal, QC (Hybrid - On-site 3 days/week)
Term: Long-term contract (Immediate start)
Advantages
High-Impact Mandate: Lead a critical enterprise portfolio encompassing Data/Analytics modernizations, Oracle Fusion ERP transformations, and cutting-edge AI-enabled SDLC initiatives.
Immediate Start: The client is prepared to onboard the right candidate within a week.
Top-Tier Organization: Gain valuable experience with a highly respected, market-leading financial and insurance institution.
Competitive Rate: Flexibility to secure above-market rates for standout, high-value "rockstar" talent.
Responsibilities
Agile Leadership & Delivery: Direct Scrum teams while balancing hybrid delivery plans (integrated master schedules blended with sprint execution). Lead all sprint ceremonies, remove blockers, and drive rapid, predictable software delivery.
Hands-on Jira Mastery: Actively build dashboards, establish clean hierarchies, configure workflows, and leverage JQL-based reporting to ensure the system reflects true performance metrics and KPIs.
Bridging Tech & Business: Translate complex technical architectural concepts into business value. Navigate financial cycles (invoicing, receipts, procurement) and actively engage with Finance stakeholders (FP&A, Controllers, etc.).
Proactive Governance: Act as the central point of contact for compliance, security, and legal triggers. Anticipate project roadblocks and proactively loop in downstream teams without waiting for direction.
Technical Portfolio Management: Oversee delivery tracks across data platforms (warehousing, pipelines, quality controls), ERP integrations (Oracle Cloud Fusion), and engineering productivity enhancements (utilizing AI inside the SDLC framework).
Qualifications
Must-Have Requirements:
7–12 years of technical delivery experience (Candidates exceeding this sweet spot will not be considered; the client is specifically looking for an active, execution-focused professional to grow with the team).
Strong Tech-to-Agile Evolution: A proven technical foundation (ideally as a former Architect or Senior Engineer) transitioned into a strong Agile Coach or Scrum Master focus.
Financial Services Industry Experience: Mandatory experience within Insurance, Reinsurance, or Banking. (Deep knowledge of Reinsurance treaties, policy handling, and contracts is a massive plus).
ERP Expertise: 5–8 years of experience dealing with complex enterprise ERP environments, ideally with Oracle ERP Cloud Fusion initiatives (Financials, Procurement, Integrations).
Expert Jira Capabilities: Absolute mastery of Jira setup, metrics tracking, and dashboard configuration on a screen.
Financial Management: Proven experience managing project delivery budgets up to $2M (burn tracking, forecasting, vendor management).
Nice-to-Have Requirements:
Bilingualism (English/French): Highly preferred for Montreal-based candidates; an asset for Toronto.
Modern data ecosystem familiarity (Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Airflow, Power BI).
Experience implementing GenAI delivery patterns (RAG, prompt lifecycles, test automation acceleration) to improve engineering productivity.
Professional certifications (PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, PSM, or SAFe).
Summary
If you are a sharp, tech-savvy Scrum Master and Technical PM who thrives "in the weeds" of Jira, understands financial data structures, and knows how to tactfully motivate engineering teams toward fast-paced delivery, we want to hear from you. Apply today for immediate consideration!
