ecords and automated patient notification networks. Operating at the core intersection of distributed cloud architecture and health informatics, you will establish advanced automated testing matrices, validate specialized data exchange schemas, and partner with regional integration networks to enforce strict data privacy and structural interoperability standards.
Project: Cancer Screening / Digital Correspondence Modernization
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - Up to 5 days onsite, subject to hiring manager's discretion)
Duration: 5-month contract.
Advantages
Mission-Critical Health Impact: Lead the quality assurance roadmap for a high-profile digital system directly impacting provincial patient cancer screening and wellness alerts.
Advanced Health-Informatics Toolkit: Deepen your marketplace value by commanding elite validation frameworks crossing FHIR, SMART on FHIR data profiles, and major HIS engines like EPIC.
Cutting-Edge AWS Infrastructure: Direct modern quality workflows over event-driven, serverless cloud architectures, automation suites, and enterprise notification systems.
Highly Collaborative Scope: Manage integration streams with prominent healthcare platforms, clinical application leads, and regional eReferral networks.
Responsibilities
Quality Strategy & Planning: Lead the design and execution of end-to-end testing strategies, master test plans, test cases, and strict quality gate procedures for complex healthcare systems.
Clinical Integration Verification: Orchestrate end-to-end API and systems integration testing between core provincial application networks, local Hospital Information Systems (HIS like EPIC), and external downstream vendor pipelines.
Healthcare Interoperability Auditing: Validate and parse clinical payloads against rigorous implementation guides and architectural data specifications utilizing HL7 FHIR, HL7v2, HL7v3, and SMART on FHIR standards via Simplifier.
Automation Engineering Mastery: Design, build, and maintain robust automated testing frameworks using Selenium and Playwright to maximize user interface and service-layer test coverage.
API Testing & Protocol Validation: Programmatically configure and run automated API tests using Postman and vRest to ensure secure, compliant, and accurate health data exchange.
Cloud Messaging Validation: Coordinate and execute complex validation routines across cloud-hosted event layers, verifying message telemetry and queuing workflows through AWS Pinpoint and AWS End User Messaging.
Partner Alignment & Triage Leadership: Act as the premier technical quality liaison for external integration partners—coordinating environment readiness, managing synthetic test data generation, and driving multi-system bug triage.
Defect Lifecycle & Telemetry Management: Isolate, analyze, and track software defects down to the specific backend data object or message packet, communicating system quality metrics directly to product architects and project leadership.
Qualifications
Core Quality Engineering Seniority: 8+ years of progressive professional experience in systems testing and software quality assurance, with a proven track record serving in a Test Lead capacity within enterprise IT landscapes.
Advanced Clinical Data Standards Literacy: Deep, hands-on testing knowledge of health informatics protocols, including HL7 FHIR, HL7v2, HL7v3, SMART on FHIR, and interpreting specifications via Simplifier is strictly required.
Automation & API Testing Tool Mastery: High proficiency building automated frameworks and validating payloads using modern toolsets such as Postman, vRest, Selenium, and Playwright.
Clinical Application Experience: Demonstrated professional background testing complex clinical applications and eReferral software networks (e.g., Ocean, Novari, or comparable digital health modules).
AWS Cloud Infrastructure Exposure: Practical experience validating cloud architectures, with specific technical familiarity verifying messaging pipelines using AWS Pinpoint and AWS End User Messaging.
Hospital Information Systems (HIS) Integration: Direct experience testing, validating, and certifying integrations alongside major hospital software networks, with a strong preference for EPIC platform integration environments.
Public Sector Mandate: Verified professional experience delivering enterprise quality engineering tracks within a Canadian public sector framework or health authority is strictly required.
Soft Skills: Outstanding consultative, critical-thinking, and analytical problem-solving capabilities, with an established history of translating complex business rules into rigorous test cases and managing multi-stakeholder defect triage meetings.
Highly Preferred Assets:
Familiarity with dedicated FHIR validation engines, including ONC Inferno or AEGIS Touchstone.
Experience with programmatically generating realistic, non-identifiable test data using platforms like Synthea.
Exposure to cloud resiliency testing frameworks, identity mocking (OAuth 2.0/JWT), or accessibility automation (axe-core).
