We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior UX Designer to architect and deliver human-centered digital solutions that are intuitive, accessible, and desirable. In this role, you will take technical and strategic ownership of the user experience lifecycle—bridging the gap between user research, product design, and front-end engineering parameters. Operating within a balanced team structure alongside product managers and developers, you will leverage agile methodologies to map complex user journeys, build interactive prototypes, and rapidly iterate on designs to deliver highly effective, scalable, and responsive digital services.
...
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Duration: 7-month contract.
Advantages
High-Impact Solution Ownership: Shape the customer experience, usability mechanics, and long-term delivery path for high-visibility public-facing digital products.
Balanced Product Sandbox: Collaborate within a mature, modern cross-functional paradigm alongside product management and software engineering headers.
Diversified Design Ecosystem: Capitalize on an expansive design canvas, moving seamlessly from early-stage discovery mapping to rapid interactive prototyping.
Focused Strategic Runway: Secure an autonomous, high-velocity 7-month delivery track optimized for professional portfolio growth and system-level iteration.
Responsibilities
User-Centered Product Design: Apply industry-wide UX design best practices to construct high-fidelity digital solutions, maintaining a deep operational focus on mobile-first architecture and fluid responsive frameworks.
Rapid Iteration & Optimization: Deconstruct user metrics, stakeholder reviews, and platform analytics to iterate on designs and interaction flows efficiently and intelligently.
User Research & Journey Mapping: Plan, script, and facilitate qualitative user research loops—producing foundational design assets such as User Personas, empathy maps, and comprehensive End-to-End User Journey Maps.
Usability Testing & Synthesis: Conduct structured usability testing sessions, authoring testing scripts, aggregating behavioral observations, and translating raw research feedback into actionable technical design recommendations.
End-to-End Service Design: Blueprint holistic service delivery interactions, detailing front-stage user touchpoints alongside backend infrastructure dependencies and operational data flows.
Agile Sprint Execution: Actively drive design streams within a rapid Agile (Scrum) delivery environment, collaborating on user story generation, managing design backlogs, and delivering testable specifications to development squads.
Cross-Functional Stakeholder Mediation: Serve as an authoritative strategic bridge between technical development teams and business units, navigating conflicting design requirements to keep projects moving on schedule.
Accessibility Alignment: Verify all interface features, visual hierarchies, and navigation patterns align strictly with digital inclusion principles, WCAG standards, and Ontario Design System frameworks.
Qualifications
Core UX Engineering Seniority: 5+ years of progressive professional experience leading user experience design, user interaction tracking, or digital product transformation.
Agile Lifecycle Footprint: 3+ years of technical experience participating in complex projects of varying scales under strict Agile/Scrum methodologies, ensuring full alignment with delivery plans and best practices.
Mobile-First Design Architecture: Expert understanding and verified professional application of mobile-first rules, breakpoint layouts, and responsive interaction parameters (Strictly Required).
Design & Wireframing Software Mastery: Expert hands-on development experience utilizing professional industry toolsets—specifically Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Cloud, Axure, JustInMind, and Zeplin.
Consultative Communication & Mediation: Exceptional stakeholder management, presentation, and mediation skills, with a proven track record of aligning business metrics with technical delivery lines (Strictly Required).
Nice to Have:
Prior professional experience designing digital services that align with Canadian public sector or municipal web standards and design playbooks.
Technical baseline knowledge of client-side or server-side front-end coding environments (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Angular, or Node.js).
