Responsibilities
User Interface & Interaction Design: Design intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly digital interfaces across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices using design systems and reusable UI components.
AI Workflow & Human-in-the-Loop Design: Architect intuitive AI-assisted workflows that support information gathering, content generation, and decision-making, ensuring clear user controls for human review, validation, and approval of AI-generated content.
End-to-End User Research & Usability Testing: Plan, recruit, and execute qualitative and quantitative user research, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing sessions; synthesize findings into actionable research reports and design iterations.
Requirements & Process Elicitation: Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions to elicit, document, and validate business requirements, user needs, process flows, and future-state process maps.
Agile Deliverables & User Stories: Translate business requirements and research insights into well-defined user stories, use cases, business rules, functional specifications, and Agile backlog items.
Accessibility & Inclusive Design: Ensure all digital interfaces comply with web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA / AODA) using manual testing, automated evaluation tools (axe, WAVE), and screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product owners, business analysts, developers, and accessibility specialists to ensure design feasibility, clear handovers, and successful implementation.
Design Systems & Documentation: Maintain design documentation, design pattern libraries, and reusable component systems aligned with modern enterprise design guidelines.
Qualifications
Enterprise UX/UI & Product Design: Proven experience as a UX Designer, UI Designer, or Product Designer creating responsive web-based applications across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms (Strictly Required).
AI Workflow & Human-in-the-Loop UX: Practical experience designing AI-assisted user experiences and human review, validation, and approval interfaces for AI-generated content (Strictly Required).
User Research & Usability Testing: Hands-on experience planning, recruiting, and conducting end-to-end user research, interviews, usability testing, and research synthesis (Strictly Required).
Accessibility Compliance & Testing: Demonstrated experience designing accessible applications (WCAG 2.1 AA / AODA) and conducting accessibility evaluations using manual/automated tools (axe, WAVE) or screen readers (JAWS, NVDA) (Strictly Required).
Agile Requirements & Process Modeling: Skilled in Agile delivery environments (Azure DevOps, Jira), translating business needs into user stories, use cases, process flows, and wireframes (Strictly Required).
Nice-to-Have Assets:
Practical experience applying the Ontario Design System, Digital Service Standards, or working within a public sector environment.
Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular) to streamline collaboration with development teams.
