As an intermediate QA specialist, you will bridge the gap between software developers, business analysts, and project managers throughout the entire Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will establish testing strategies for web-based 3-tier systems, execute functional, integration, and performance tests, perform data reconciliation, and validate digital accessibility standards. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented testing authority who can manage complex rule engines, build comprehensive test cases, and track software defects within fast-paced delivery environments.

Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and execute manual and automated testing efforts for large, complex business-critical systems across GUI and non-GUI environments.
Formulate comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, use cases, and expected test results aligned with business requirements.
Design and implement testing strategies for dynamic systems involving complex data, business rules, and image assets subject to high annual rates of change.
Execute functional, system integration, regression, performance, load, stress, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Perform backend testing and data reconciliation using database query tools to validate data integrity, accuracy, and migration transformations.
Conduct digital accessibility testing for web applications to ensure alignment with AODA and WCAG 2.0 AA regulations using tools such as WAVE, JAWS, and NVDA.
Identify, document, isolate, trace, and track software defects using tools such as JIRA, Bugzilla, Micro Focus ALM, and Azure DevOps.
Develop and maintain automated test scripts using frameworks like Selenium, UFT, TestComplete, or Postman, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers during Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) to resolve technical defects.
Author and maintain technical test documentation, test coverage reports, defect summary metrics, and user release notes.
Qualifications
Core Technical & Testing Requirements
Manual Testing & Data Reconciliation: Proven experience leading and executing manual testing and data reconciliation for large, complex, business-critical platforms.
Test Plan & Strategy Design: Demonstrated experience developing test strategies, test plans, test cases, and expected results for dynamic systems involving data, business rules, and images.
Accessibility Compliance (AODA / WCAG 2.0 AA): Direct experience performing accessibility testing for web applications in alignment with AODA standards using validation tools (WAVE, JAWS, NVDA, Compliance Sheriff).
3-Tier & COTS Systems: Working knowledge of web-based 3-tier architectures, custom applications, and COTS implementations, including business rule engines (e.g., IBM J-Rules Engine).
Defect Management & QA Tooling: Experience using defect tracking software and test management suites, such as JIRA, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps, or Micro Focus Product Suite.
Database & Querying Skills: Proficiency writing database queries (e.g., Oracle) to inspect backend data structures, validate data transformations, and verify test outcomes.
Preferred Assets
Public Sector Context: Prior experience working within public sector environments, or public agencies is considered a strong asset.
Automation & Scripting: Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Bash) and test automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Postman).
