Responsibilities
• Oversee full-cycle bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance for multiple restaurant business entities.
• Accurately record operational transactions including daily sales, cost of goods sold (COGS), labor, and operational expenses.
• Process weekly and monthly financial statements while maintaining organized, audit-ready financial records and supporting administrative files.
• Prepare year-end financial statement working papers in collaboration with external CPA teams and act as primary point of contact for audits and reconciliations.
• Execute regular bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure complete alignment across income statements and cash flow statements.
• Process accurate employee payroll and gratuity allocations on schedule.
• Implement, review, and maintain internal control procedures covering POS transactions, inventory, cash handling, disbursements, and time records.
• Manage vendor and lessor accounts by reviewing invoices against active contracts and lease agreements.
• Complete HR and office administrative tasks, including issuing Records of Employment (ROEs), employee onboarding/offboarding paperwork, and maintaining key and security code logs.
• Ensure full compliance and timely filing for HST, WSIB, T4 statements, and year-end tax documentation.
Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience preparing year-end financial statements and working papers.
• Proven track record in full-cycle bookkeeping and payroll administration within the hospitality, restaurant, or multi-unit retail industry.
• In-depth familiarity with accounting software platforms, POS system tie-outs, and spreadsheet analytics.
• High comfort level working across multiple business entities and navigating high-volume daily communications.
• Strong understanding of internal financial controls, inventory tracking, and contract/lease reconciliation.
