Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development: Direct, mentor, and coach a team of seven AP/AR specialists. Establish team objectives, oversee daily workload distribution, conduct performance reviews, and drive employee engagement.
Transactional Finance Management: Oversee end-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including invoice approvals, vendor payments, customer billing, collections strategies, and statement distributions.
Ledger Oversight & Month-End Reporting: Review sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliations, prepare executive performance dashboards, assist with GST/HST CRA filings, and support month-end and year-end close activities.
Process Improvement & Audit Support: Serve as the main point of contact for external and internal auditors, establish robust internal controls, and implement workflow optimizations across AP/AR processes.
Stakeholder & Vendor Relations: Act as the key escalation point for complex vendor and customer account inquiries, partnering cross-functionally with Procurement, Sales, and Operations teams to streamline finance workflows.
Qualifications
Experience & Leadership: Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in AP/AR operations, including at least 2 years in a direct supervisory capacity overseeing a team.
Experience within high-volume food manufacturing, distribution, or consumer goods is preferred.
Education & Certifications: A post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) along with hands-on experience using major ERP platforms (such as SAP, NetSuite, or Dynamics 365) and GST/HST tax filings.
