Your Role
As a Controls Specialist - Tissue Converting Equipment, you'll take on complex technical challenges that bring out your full potential.
As a key member of David Boudreau's team, you will serve as the organization's subject matter expert for controls, automation and tissue converting equipment. You will partner with plant teams across the Tissue network to troubleshoot critical manufacturing issues, optimize machine performance, support capital projects and drive automation excellence.
Your scope includes:
- Act as the lead automation and controls expert for Tissue converting operations across multiple manufacturing facilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment, controls and process-related issues impacting safety, quality, productivity and reliability
- Program, modify and optimize PLC systems using Rockwell Automation and Siemens platforms
- Develop, troubleshoot and improve motion control systems, servo drives and machine synchronization applications
- Support tissue converting, packaging and palletizing equipment to maximize operational performance
- Lead root cause analyses and implement sustainable corrective actions to eliminate recurring issues
- Support equipment upgrades, modernization initiatives, commissioning activities and production start-ups
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance and operations teams to identify and implement manufacturing improvements
- Drive automation standardization and best practices across the Tissue network
- Support MES integration initiatives and controls architecture optimization
- Coach and mentor local automation, maintenance and engineering resources while promoting knowledge sharing across facilities
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve manufacturing performance and equipment reliability
- Support capital projects from concept development through implementation and operational stabilization
- Travel regularly to support manufacturing facilities, approximately every other week
What You Bring
You're a natural fit for Controls Specialist - Tissue Converting Equipment if you have:
- 10+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls, manufacturing engineering or a related technical field
- Extensive hands-on experience with tissue converting equipment
- Advanced PLC programming expertise using Rockwell Automation
- Strong experience with Siemens controls platforms
- Deep knowledge of motion control systems, servo drives and machine synchronization
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex automation and manufacturing systems
- Experience supporting equipment installations, commissioning, start-ups and capital projects
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machine reliability and continuous improvement principles
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose issues, identify root causes and implement long-term solutions
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence, coach and collaborate with technical and operational teams
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities across different facilities
- Experience in the tissue, paper, pulp or converting industry is strongly preferred
- Engineering degree, engineering technology diploma or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout the United States
