Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit entries, commercial invoices, bills of lading, and permits via electronic customs systems.
- Classify goods accurately using the Harmonized System to determine correct duties, taxes, and tariff rates.
- Ensure entries comply with trade laws
- Manage client inquiries on trade agreements and resolve holds, exams, or entry rejections with officials to prevent delays.
- Maintain organized entry files to ensure full post-clearance audit readiness.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in customs brokerage, import operations, or international logistics.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation is highly preferred (or a willingness to pursue certification).
- Experience with entry-writing software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, Integration Point) and direct interface systems (like US ACE, Canadian ACROSS, or regional customs portals).
- Strong understanding of HS classification rules, Incoterms, free trade agreements, and valuation methods.
- High attention to detail, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
