Whether you are an established intermediate practitioner or a seasoned senior expert, this Financial Analyst position offers direct exposure to various facets of corporate finance, asset management, and enterprise-wide financial reporting initiatives. You will play a crucial role in managing month-end close functions, operationalizing accounting models, and enhancing financial control framework processes.
This role is open to candidates in both Toronto and Waterloo under a flexible Hybrid arrangement (3 days per week on-site, with flexibility on choosing your office days). Compensation and rates will vary depending on seniority (Level III vs. Level IV) and work location.

Responsibilities
As a Financial Analyst, your day-to-day responsibilities will vary based on experience level:
-Accounting Close & Reporting: Coordinate and execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, chart of value requests, intercompany processes, and reconciliations.
-Financial Statements & Analytics: Prepare legal entity financial statements, conduct detailed variance analyses, and support P&L reporting by partnering with business units to deliver clear financial insights.
-Governance & Controls: Establish, maintain, and operationalize robust financial controls, legal entity frameworks, and controllership functions in collaboration with subsidiary units.
-Strategic Initiatives: Support key programs, ledger setups, and management equity plans (e.g., MEP, IFRS 18 implementation).
-Audit & Regulatory Compliance: Assist with regulatory filings, excess minimum capital calculations, and internal/external audit deliverables.
-Process Improvement: Identify process efficiencies, leverage financial reporting systems, and implement automation solutions (e.g., SAP, Power BI, Tableau).
Qualifications
Must Haves:
-Education & Experience:
Level III: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline with 5 to 7 years of progressive finance/reporting experience.
Level IV: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 6 to 9 years of progressive experience in financial management, controllership, and technical accounting.
-Professional Designations: CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA designation (Required for Level IV; strongly preferred for Level III).
-Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and hands-on experience with financial reporting tools and ERP platforms (SAP preferred).
-Financial Acumen: Strong background in legal entity accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal control frameworks.
-Soft Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proven ability to manage tight timelines under pressure, strong analytical problem-solving abilities, and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
Nice to Haves:
-Experience within a Financial Institution, specifically in the Asset Management space.
-Hands-on experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
-Proven track record in process automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
