Responsibilities
•Track and manage cloud spend against budget and forecast; analyze and explain variances
•Monitor Azure and AWS usage and identify key drivers behind consumption trends
•Prepare clear, executive-ready reports, dashboards, and visualizations
•Partner with finance, engineering, and business teams to improve cost transparency
•Collaborate with optimization and FinOps insights teams to identify savings opportunities
•Investigate billing issues and ensure accurate cost allocation
•Perform data gathering, analysis, and reporting using internal tools and cloud portals
•Support monthly reviews of cloud spend and forecast performance
•Participate in stakeholder meetings to discuss usage, budgets, and cost control strategies
•Monitor budgets and recommend improvements to cost management practices
•Maintain documentation and reporting standards for cloud financial management
Typical Day in the Role
•Review cloud spend reports and investigate variances
•Meet with stakeholders to discuss billing, usage, and forecasts
•Perform data analysis and gather usage metrics from Azure/AWS portals
•Create dashboards, visualizations, and executive summaries
•Collaborate with the FinOps Insights team on optimization opportunities
•Monitor budgets and identify cost-control improvements
•Attend monthly 1:1 or stakeholder review meetings
This is an individual contributor role with regular collaboration across finance, technology, and business teams.
Qualifications
Required
•FinOps Certification
•Minimum 4 years of experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, or technology finance
•Hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS cost management and billing
•Strong analytical skills with experience working with large datasets
•Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
•Ability to present complex cost and usage data in a clear, business-friendly manner
•Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
•Basic coding or scripting skills (SQL, Python, or similar)
•Experience with project coordination, reporting, or data gathering
•Experience using AI / low-code tools (e.g., Copilot Studio) for automation
•Familiarity with tagging, allocation, showback / chargeback, or cost attribution models
•Experience building dashboards or visual reporting tools
