Responsibilities
As a GL Accountant, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate income statements, balance sheets, and various other financial reports or accounting statements.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Create crucial month-end accounting entries, review the accuracy of journal entries, and post directly to the general ledger.
• Reconciliations & Analysis: Prepare thorough balance sheet reconciliations, evaluate accounting variances, and check transactions from subsystems to ensure seamless data integrity.
• Accounts Receivable Support: Maintain, record, and reconcile billings and accounts receivables for small to medium-sized accounts.
• Compliance & Recommendations: Examine financial statements for strict conformance with accounting principles, and make proactive recommendations regarding reserves, assets, and expenditures.
• Problem Solving: Utilize standardized procedures and practices to resolve standard accounting discrepancies and consistently meet month-end deadlines.
Qualifications
Must Haves:
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (a combination of relevant education and experience will be considered).
• Experience: Up to 3 years of hands-on experience in a general ledger or corporate accounting environment.
• Technical Skills: In-depth, proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Advanced/Intermediate Excel (formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables), Word, and Outlook.
• Analytical Capabilities: Solid intermediate math skills with the ability to calculate complex figures, percentages, fractions, and financial variances.
• Problem-Solving: Proven ability to analyze information, use standard practices to make sound judgments, and solve standard financial errors.
Nice to Haves:
• Prior experience working within a dedicated corporate Controlling job function.
• An inquisitive mindset with a natural drive to understand the "why" behind financial data and system flows.
• Familiarity with large-scale corporate accounting subsystems and ERP software.
