We are seeking a talented Intermediate iOS Developer for a contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a key mobile engineering capacity, specializing in designing, developing, and optimizing native iOS applications using modern Swift frameworks.
...
As an intermediate iOS developer, you will bridge the gap between technical requirements, system design specifications, and intuitive mobile user experiences. Operating within a collaborative Agile 'pod' structure and a hybrid work model, you will build responsive interfaces using SwiftUI and UIKit, implement async/await concurrency models, apply MVVM architectural patterns, and enforce strict accessibility baselines. This position is ideal for a proactive developer who thrives on pair programming, collective code ownership, and continuous mobile innovation.
Location: Toronto, ON
Assignment Type: Hybrid (2 to 4 days per week onsite)
Contract Duration: 8-month contract
Advantages
Modern iOS Engineering Stack: Work extensively with SwiftUI, UIKit, Swift Concurrency (Async/Await), Combine, and MVVM architecture.
High-Impact Mobile Platform: Build secure, accessible, high-volume mobile solutions within a collaborative pod structure.
Agile & Pair Programming Culture: Embrace collective code ownership, rapid proof-of-concepts, and pair programming practices.
Flexible Hybrid Environment: Enjoy a balanced working arrangement combining onsite teamwork in Toronto with remote flexibility.
Responsibilities
Interpret System Requirements Specifications (SRS) and System Design Specifications (SDS) to build robust iOS solutions aligned with architecture standards.
Design and implement native mobile application features using SwiftUI, UIKit, Swift Concurrency, and reactive programming patterns.
Participate actively in code reviews to ensure standards compliance, code reusability, maintainability, and quality control.
Deliver effective solutions within Agile development cycles, meeting key project milestones, quality baselines, and security standards.
Create custom views programmatically, implement auto-layout rules for dynamic screen sizes, and support voiceover, dynamic type, and dark mode features.
Perform unit testing and performance profiling using XCTest, Xcode Instruments, and Git version control tools.
Communicate project status clearly and escalate technical issues in a timely manner to maintain delivery alignment.
Provide technical support for escalated incidents to resolve outages efficiently and minimize stakeholder impact.
Contribute to Application Deployment Plans, mobile rollout strategies, and self-initiated rapid proof-of-concepts (PoCs).
Conduct formal knowledge transfer sessions and collaborate across multi-disciplinary technical and business teams.
Qualifications
Core Requirements & Technical Capabilities
Education: University or College degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
iOS Development Tenure: 3 to 6+ years of hands-on experience building native iOS applications using SwiftUI and UIKit.
Modern Swift Features: Minimum 6 months of hands-on experience with SwiftUI, Swift Concurrency (Async/Await), and Combine framework.
Architecture & Patterns: Solid experience with MVVM, Protocol-Oriented Programming (POP), multithreaded application design, and reactive frameworks.
UI & Accessibility Depth: Strong background creating custom views from code, managing Auto Layout across dynamic screen sizes, and supporting accessibility (VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Dark Mode).
Testing & Tools: Experience using XCTest, Xcode Instruments, Git, Cocoapods, and iOS Frameworks.
Preferred Assets
CI/CD & Package Management: Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins), Swift Package Manager (SPM), or Fastlane scripts.
Advanced UI & Testing: Experience with custom view animations, transitions, and Snapshot Testing frameworks.
Soft Skills & Collaboration
Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills to collaborate effectively within pod structures.
Agile & Team Orientation: Strong team-first mindset with comfort in pair programming, collective code ownership, and fast-paced Agile methodologies.
