About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a premier food production and distribution center in Edmonton to find a highly motivated, hands-on Maintenance Technician for an immediate start. Initially covering a medical leave beginning on July 10th, this contract-to-hire opportunity serves as a working interview. Responsibilities
Your primary objective is straightforward: ensure maximum uptime and keep our production lines running seamlessly.
- Conduct active monitoring, rapid troubleshooting, and urgent repairs on a variety of facility equipment and manufacturing machinery.
- Execute comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance (PM) tasks while managing and closing out assigned work orders.
- Act as the main point of contact to supervise and assist third-party service contractors during specialized repair visits.
- Maintain an impeccably clean and organized maintenance shop, strictly adhering to stringent Food Safety and HACCP sanitization protocols.
- Perform routine checks and baseline troubleshooting on the building's HVAC systems and assorted warehouse material handling equipment.
Qualifications
Professional Designation: You must be an actively registered 2nd or 3rd-year Apprentice Millwright, or hold a valid 4th Class Power Engineer certification.
Technical Aptitude: You possess a natural mechanical mindset, a proactive "get it done" work ethic, and the ability to accurately interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Industry Experience: A background in food manufacturing, industrial processing, or other strictly regulated environments is heavily preferred. A firm grasp of food safety hygiene and sanitation standards is non-negotiable.
Machinery Knowledge: Hands-on experience troubleshooting packaging conveyors, rollstock equipment, and automated food processing lines will make your application stand out.
Additional Assets: Valid tickets for operating forklifts, motorized pallet jacks, or elevated work platforms (scissor lifts) are highly advantageous.
