The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator is a vital team member responsible for executing the end-to-end administration of employee pay, benefits enrollment, and data integrity within the organization's HRIS environment. Positioned within our finance & accounting and human resources specialization networks, this position requires a balanced focus—approximately a 50/50 split—between payroll processing and total rewards administration. Working in the growing healthcare industry, you will support roughly 600 Canadian employees, ensuring full compliance with regional Employment Standards and organizational policies.
This work-from-home role in Calgary is an initial 3-month contract with an open date, featuring a very high potential for extension or long-term growth due to the expanding nature of our client's operations. Supported by the recruiters at Randstad Professional, you will manage day-to-day Canadian payroll processing using Dayforce, handle benefit open enrollments, process new hire documentation, and resolve payroll or benefit-related inquiries from employees.
As a trusted Payroll and Benefits Coordinator, you will review timesheets against payroll registers, maintain precise records, compile monthly and year-end tax reports, and audit system data. Working alongside experienced human resources and finance & accounting leadership, you will help streamline workflows, administer cross-border or regional benefits programs, and deliver high-touch service to internal team members.

• Expertise in Dayforce payroll software and HRIS navigation
• Strong proficiency in Canadian payroll rules, tax deductions, and statutory compliance
• In-depth understanding of group benefits administration, open enrollment, and vendor reconciliation
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced functions in Microsoft Excel
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for addressing employee inquiries
• Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with absolute discretion

Responsibilities
• Process accurate and timely bi-weekly Canadian payroll for salaried and hourly employees using Dayforce
• Manage daily benefits administration including enrollments, terminations, status updates, and life event adjustments
• Perform thorough timesheet versus payroll register audits to verify hours, rates, and deduction accuracy
• Act as the primary contact for payroll and benefits inquiries, providing prompt, courteous resolution to internal staff
• Maintain complete and precise employee master data within the Dayforce HRIS and payroll system
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll, tax, and benefits deduction reports for management review
• Support cyclical programs such as annual benefit open enrollment, merit review cycles, and year-end tax reporting (T4s)
• Reconcile monthly benefit provider invoices to ensure accurate billing and timely processing
• Collaborate with the broader human resources and human resources operations team to continuously refine payroll and benefit processes
• Ensure ongoing compliance with Canadian federal and provincial Employment Standards, tax laws, and government regulations
Qualifications
• 3 to 5 years of dedicated experience in Canadian payroll processing and benefits administration
• Mandatory hands-on experience using Dayforce payroll/HRIS system
• Proven background supporting payroll and benefits for medium-to-large organizations (experience with 500+ employees preferred)
• Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field
• Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is considered a strong asset
• Residence in or near Calgary with a reliable home-office setup
