This high-impact leadership position requires an expert communicator capable of navigating complex stakeholder management, building long-term corporate relationships, and driving operational excellence across diverse union frameworks in every Canadian province.
Advantages
Base Salary: $100,000 – $140,000 per annum (commensurate with experience).
Bonus Structure: Performance-based bonus component ranging from 15% to 20%.

Responsibilities
- Departmental Leadership: Direct, mentor, and oversee a national payroll team of 15, directly managing 4 Team Leads to ensure operational efficiency and standard operating compliance.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary liaison and strategic partner for internal executives, HR teams, regional directors, and external union business agents.
- Union Contract Execution: Oversee interpretation and compliance across dozens of complex construction and trade union collective bargaining agreements, ensuring wage schedules, benefits, and working conditions are flawlessly executed.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Mandate and audit strict multi-provincial regulatory adherence, payroll taxation, year-end filing oversight, and accurate remittances across all Canadian provinces (including Quebec).
- ERP Optimization: Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the JD Edwards (JDE) payroll module, ensuring robust system data integrity and technical health.
Qualifications
- Designation: PCP or CPM designation is strictly mandatory.
- Industry Experience: Mandatory background in the Construction industry (or directly adjacent heavy union sectors like civil, mechanical, or industrial services).
- Technical Expertise: Absolute mastery of multi-provincial unionized payroll structures and complex benefit/pension configurations.
- Leadership Track Record: Proven experience leading mid-to-large sized payroll divisions within a high-volume corporate infrastructure.
- ERP Mastery: Deep technical familiarity with JD Edwards (JDE) or similar robust Tier-1 ERP systems is highly preferred.
