This year, the organization is launching multiple overlapping programs with complex cross-team dependencies. These initiatives span critical retail domains, including Pricing strategies, Pro Customer Services, and Customer Loyalty, crossing over all major selling channels (Point of Sale/POS, Customer Order Management/COM, and E-commerce platforms). This is a hybrid, hands-on role where you will combine classic Agile servant leadership with rigorous project management governance to ensure successful, on-time delivery.
Duration: 9-Month Contract (Running until the end of January 2027)
Hours: 40 hours per week (Occasional overnight or weekend work may be required to support critical project deployments)
Location: Hybrid (Based out of the Greater Toronto Area/GTA, with a requirement to work from the Toronto office once a month, scaling up to once a week depending on project demands)
Advantages
High-Impact Portfolio: Drive complex, multi-million-dollar programs that directly impact core transactional systems (POS, COM, E-commerce) for a leading household retail brand.
Dual Leadership Scope: Blend your passion for Agile coaching with structural program management, managing cross-team milestones, risks, and Delivery Management Office (DMO) governance.
Long-Term Contract Stability: Secure a solid 9-month engagement stretching through the busy peak retail seasons.
Vibrant Agile Community: Participate directly in the enterprise's internal Agile community meetups to share best practices, collaborate with peer coaches, and continuously improve delivery frameworks.
Responsibilities
Scrum Facilitation & Core Agile Execution
Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews/Demos, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinements) across multiple parallel delivery squads.
Partner tightly with Product Owners to optimize and refine the product backlog, ensuring clear, actionable items are ready for sprint execution.
Protect the development teams by proactively identifying, tracking, and removing complex technical and operational impediments.
Project & Program Management
Develop detailed, cross-team project plans, establish delivery milestones, map out multi-project dependencies, and manage tight deadlines.
Monitor progress, conduct rigorous risk assessments, execute mitigation strategies, and adjust roadmaps dynamically as priorities shift.
Adhere strictly to the enterprise DMO (Delivery Management Office) best practices, maintaining required artifacts and documentation throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Alignment
Act as the primary technical delivery liaison, communicating key performance metrics (velocity, burn-up/down, delivery risks) to both business and tech executives.
Coordinate interactions between the core software squads and cross-functional enterprise partners, including Change Management, Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Architecture, Database Administrators (DBAs), and Offshore Support teams.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement by utilizing data and metrics to optimize team delivery velocity and efficiency.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of proven experience operating as a Certified Scrum Master (CSM or equivalent) within a large enterprise environment.
Project Management Hybridity: Demonstrated prior experience acting in a Lead, Project Manager, or Program Management capacity, handling timelines, budgets, and project governance tools.
Retail Domain Expertise: Previous experience working within the Retail or E-commerce sector is considered a significant asset, particularly with selling systems, loyalty programs, or checkout/POS flows.
Agile Tool Mastery: Highly knowledgeable and proficient in Jira, Confluence, and adjacent Agile metric tracking and dashboard tools.
Framework Expertise: Expert, deep-dive knowledge of Agile Principles, the Scrum framework, and Kanban execution.
Soft Skills: Superior relationship-building, servant leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder facilitation skills. Ability to work seamlessly in a corporate setting with virtual teams (requiring video collaboration).
