...
Operating within a centralized PMO under the guidance of the Director of Transformation Management, you will step directly into active, high-priority workstreams. This is an elite generalist pool; you will map your foundational retail expertise to a rotating slate of complex projects, ensuring rapid execution, rigorous financial tracking, and seamless cross-functional delivery.
Position Type: 6-Month Contract
Work Structure: Generalist PM Pool supporting multi-banner enterprise rollouts
Core Mandate: Complete project ownership to stabilize, govern, and execute cross-functional technology streams.
Advantages
High-Visibility Generalist Exposure: Rotate across a diverse pipeline of high-priority technology investments, expanding your domain expertise.
Strategic Autonomy: Step into a mature PMO environment that trusts you to audit project health, course-correct milestones, and accelerate time-to-value independently.
Potential for Conversion: Benefit from a specialized contract-to-permanent evaluation framework designed for long-term career growth.
Enterprise Scale Impact: Lead projects that touch major foundational layers of a large-scale national retail footprint.
Responsibilities
Adaptive Project Execution: Standardize, govern, and execute the end-to-end delivery of diverse technology projects (ranging from retail applications and software configuration to infrastructure updates and point-of-sale/POS implementations).
Performance Optimization & Project Recovery: Step into existing, unbacked initiatives or legacy workstreams. Proactively audit project health, course-correct milestones, and accelerate time-to-value without adding operational friction to executive leadership teams.
Stakeholder Integration & Communication: Serve as the primary bridge between cross-functional business units (Supply Chain, Merchandising, Store Operations, Finance) and IT delivery teams. Translate complex requirements into crisp, actionable execution blueprints.
Financial & Resource Accountability: Actively manage end-to-end project accounting—governing internal full-time employees, contingent contractor resources, and external strategic vendor partners against tight business case constraints.
Agile Risk Triaging: Navigate fast-moving retail cycles by anticipating bottlenecks, resolving architectural or integration dependencies, and maintaining continuity across banner-level rollouts.
Qualifications
Experience: Proven track record operating in a Project Management or Senior Project Management capacity within a centralized corporate PMO.
Core Retail Pedigree: Deep, intuitive understanding of how large-scale brick-and-mortar and digital retail or grocery environments operate. Must understand how technology changes directly impact stores, margins, and operational frontline processes.
Versatile Tech Delivery Toolkit: Demonstrated success managing projects spanning different technology domains—such as commercial off-the-shelf software applications, cloud migrations, hardware/infrastructure deployment, data analytics, or digital workflows (e.g., ServiceNow).
Ambiguity Competency: Comfort stepping into a project that is already moving or partially defined, parsing out clarity, establishing governance, and driving structured progress independently.
Professional Presence: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to push back constructively, align director-level stakeholders across divergent operational pillars, and present clear health metrics to PMO executives.
Nice-to-Have Skills & Assets
Bilingualism (English/French): Strong spoken and written proficiency in French is a major strategic asset to support a high-priority business footprint in the Quebec market (local Montreal candidates are highly preferred).
Contract-to-FTE Openness: Candidates who are highly receptive to a specialized contract-to-permanent model, allowing for a deep cultural and execution evaluation period before long-term conversion.
Certifications: An active PMP or Agile equivalent is considered a strong asset.
Summary
The "Right Fit" for this transformation team is a project manager who thrives on change, possesses exceptional emotional intelligence to navigate internal corporate reshuffling, and treats a project's budget as if it were their own capital. If you are an adaptable retail PM who can walk into a moving stream and immediately deliver structure and direction, apply today!
