Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal safety regulations and implement company's safety guidelines and practices.
- Provide safety guidance to the other departments.
- Develop safety systems such as SWP, Incident reporting, etc. and PPE matrix in consultation with Production and Asset Management department.
- Participate or lead safety committee (JHSC) along with other management representatives and working members.
- Participate, develop and implement Industrial Hygiene Programs and systems pertaining to Hazard communication.
- Support training of key people on procedures and systems as needed.
- Administer EHS culture by promoting, reporting and conducting audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field (eg. Sciences, Environment, Occupational H&S)
- Training or certification in safety or Industrial Hygiene
- Total 5+ years experience in implementing safety programs, minimum 3 years in large manufacturing environment (mining, chemical production, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of OHSA requirements (JHSC certification is a plus)
- Ability to develop systems around safety such as LOTO, confined space, Hotwork, etc.
- Knowledge of chemical related regulations and hazard
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 is a plus
- Strong MS Office skills (Power Bi or SharePoint on line is an asset)
- Exceptional communication skills with proven ability to coach/teach/train.
