As a principal business analyst, you will bridge the gap between business owners, system architects, UI/UX designers, and external vendors. Operating within a hybrid work model, you will translate complex business and technical requirements into actionable user stories, refine product backlogs, and ensure seamless project delivery within fast-paced Agile environments.
Location: Toronto, ON
Assignment Type: Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)
Contract Duration: 8-month contract

Responsibilities
Collaborate across cross-functional teams—including business leads, architects, developers, and UI/UX designers—to capture business, integration, data, and non-functional requirements.
Work alongside product owners and external vendors to create, refine, and prioritize user stories while managing product backlogs using Jira and Asana.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, product demos, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Document business and system solution specifications using formal Agile techniques and support the creation of end-to-end functional test scripts.
Facilitate stakeholder alignment meetings, preparing agendas, tracking action items, and ensuring clear post-meeting follow-ups.
Assist with project governance and initiation by drafting project artifacts, status reports, and business cases.
Identify project risks, technical assumptions, and system constraints, communicating impact effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and customer experience metrics on a regular cadence.
Partner with Project Managers to drive continuous process improvements, optimizing team velocity, quality, and time-to-market.
Manage concurrent work assignments, balance competing priorities, and consistently meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Core Requirements & Business Analysis Experience
Professional BA & Product Experience: 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in IT Business Analysis, Product Management, project management, or vendor management.
Agile Execution: 3+ years of hands-on experience working on medium-to-high complexity Agile initiatives.
Requirements & Process Design: Proven experience with formal requirements elicitation, process mapping, re-engineering, data analysis, and system implementation.
Agile Methodology Knowledge: In-depth understanding of multiple Agile methodologies with the ability to apply appropriate techniques based on project needs.
Tooling Proficiency: Hands-on experience supporting product enhancement workflows using Jira, Asana, Confluence, or similar tracking tools.
Preferred Assets
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Agile Certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) designations.
Technical & Integration Knowledge: Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices, ITSM frameworks, process mapping techniques, and data integration principles (e.g., HL7/FHIR, XML messaging).
Public Sector Context: Prior experience working within public sector or regulated environments is preferred.
