We are seeking a seasoned Senior Maximo Business Analyst / Data Analysis Lead to drive a critical multi-year asset management transformation within a rail and transit environment. This is not a generic BA role; it requires deep, hands-on expertise in IBM Maximo and the ability to translate complex rail maintenance operations into system-ready configurations.
...
You will operate as a dual-threat lead: facilitating high-level requirement workshops with maintenance SMEs to define the "how" of the system, while simultaneously leading the data strategy to ensure the "what" (asset data, PMs, job plans) is cleansed, mapped, and migrated accurately. The ideal candidate is a Maximo expert who can command a room of frontline unionized workers and present strategic risk assessments to executive leadership.
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 to 3 days per week onsite)
Contract Duration: 24-month contract
Anticipated Start: ASAP
Rate: $58.74-$65.44/hr
Advantages
Strategic Longevity: A 24-month contract offers rare long-term stability and the opportunity to see a massive implementation from discovery to hypercare.
Technical Leadership: Act as the primary bridge between business SMEs, technical vendors, and project leadership.
High-Impact Environment: Support one of the most critical transit infrastructure projects in the GTA.
Hybrid Balance: Enjoy a professional onsite presence in Toronto combined with remote flexibility.
Responsibilities
1. Maximo Configuration Requirements Lead
Workshop Facilitation: Plan and lead sessions with rail maintenance SMEs to elicit and validate requirements for asset hierarchies, classifications, failure codes, and work management processes.
Process Engineering: Document current-state "as-is" maintenance processes and design future-state "to-be" workflows that leverage Maximo out-of-the-box capabilities while meeting operational needs.
Fit-Gap Analysis: Lead critical discussions between business practices and vendor recommendations to minimize customization and maximize system value.
Artifact Ownership: Prepare and maintain configuration workbooks, requirements traceability matrices (RTM), and decision logs.
2. Maximo Data Analysis Lead
Data Strategy: Lead the collection, cleansing, and validation of asset inventory, job plans, preventative maintenance (PM) schedules, and inspection forms.
SQL & Analysis: Use SQL and advanced Excel/Power Query to profile data, identify duplicates, and reconcile sources across legacy systems.
Mapping & Migration: Define data collection standards and templates; manage the data mapping process to ensure seamless migration into Maximo environments.
Quality Control: Define data quality rules and validation criteria; prepare data readiness dashboards for project leadership.
Qualifications
Core Experience: 10+ years of business/data analysis experience in complex enterprise environments; 5+ years supporting asset-intensive functions (Rail, Transit, Utilities, or Manufacturing).
Maximo Expertise: Mandatory 3+ years of hands-on IBM Maximo experience in an implementation, upgrade, or configuration role.
Technical Skills: Strong SQL skills for data profiling and reconciliation; expert-level Excel (Pivot tables, Power Query).
Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of EAM concepts: Asset hierarchies, Job Plans, PMs, Meters, Failure Reporting, and Labor/Craft information.
Sector Experience: Rail or Transit experience is strongly preferred. Experience working in unionized/frontline environments is a significant asset.
Education: University degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Assignment Deliverables
Comprehensive Maximo Configuration Workbooks and Business Rule documents.
Future-state Service Design Blueprints and process maps.
Cleansed and validated Master Data Load Files for migration.
Data Readiness Dashboards and validation reports for Steering Committees.
UAT scenarios, test data, and defect triage support.
