As a principal UX designer, you will bridge the gap between complex business requirements, cross-functional technical teams, and user needs across the entire product delivery lifecycle (Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live). Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will lead user research, facilitate design workshops, produce interactive prototypes, iterate on user feedback, and enforce accessibility standards to ensure high-performing digital services.

Assignment Type: Onsite (5 days per week)
Contract Duration: 7-month contract (with potential for 1-time extension)

Responsibilities
Facilitate kickoff workshops and discovery sessions to define problem statements, user personas, business goals, strategy maps, and stakeholder journeys.
Lead user research activities, authoring interview topic maps, scripts, research synthesis, and comprehensive research findings reports.
Execute Design Sprints and produce clickable, interactive prototypes to explore and validate multiple solution approaches with users.
Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Demos, Retrospectives) and create user stories ahead of development sprints.
Conduct usability testing sessions and iterative design updates based on direct user feedback and synthesis.
Execute digital accessibility compliance testing across product iterations to guarantee inclusive design standards.
Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), analyze user behavior patterns, and iterate live solutions for continuous service improvement.
Collaborate closely with product owners, technical architects, and developers to align design solutions with technical capabilities and delivery schedules.
Qualifications
Core Requirements & UX Expertise
Senior UX Tenure: 10+ years of progressive experience as a User Experience Designer using UX design best practices, mobile-first strategies, and responsive web design.
Agile Product Delivery: 3+ years of experience embedded within balanced project/product teams utilizing user-centered design processes and Agile (Scrum) delivery frameworks.
User Research & Usability Testing: Proven experience facilitating end-to-end user research, interview synthesis, usability testing sessions, and authoring research findings reports.
UX Software Mastery: Advanced expertise using industry UX tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, InVision, Axure, Zeplin, or JustInMind.
Education: Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Usability, Technical Writing, or a related discipline.
Preferred Assets
Accessibility Testing: Direct experience executing digital accessibility compliance testing.
Front-End Development Familiarity: Working knowledge or exposure to HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Angular, or Node.js.
Soft Skills & Relationship Management
Consultative Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively articulate design processes, ideas, and solutions to stakeholders.
Stakeholder Mediation: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and mediation skills to align business goals with user needs and navigate change management.
