Cella by Randstad Digital is seeking a highly skilled and passionate UX Designer who is a strong advocate for the customer. In this role, you will be dedicated to customer-centric innovation, taking pride in iterating until an experience is finely tuned. You are an excellent storyteller, comfortable presenting and discussing your work with clients and stakeholders, and someone who naturally puts the user at the center of everything you do. If you are eager to collaborate with top design talent to create industry-leading experiences across all customer touchpoints, we want to hear from you.
...
This is a 6-month contract, which requires the talent to work onsite at our client's office in downtown Toronto 4 days per week.
As a Senior UX Designer, you will be a key contributor to the digital experience strategy, focusing on customer-centric innovation across all touchpoints. You will challenge old ways of thinking and put the user at the center of everything you do, applying User-Centred Design (UCD) methodologies naturally. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, rapid iteration based on constructive feedback, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate business challenges into design opportunities.
• Meeting Frequency: Approximately 20% of your time will be spent in collaborative meetings.
• Interaction: Primarily internal cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Advantages
• You will work on highly complex datasets, personalized dashboard architectures, and intricate workflows. Successfully simplifying these into elegant user experiences provides elite resume material that proves your senior-level capabilities.
• This role isn't just about pixel-pushing; you are expected to shape the strategic experience design approach for major initiatives, challenge old ways of thinking, and act as a true strategic partner to development and business teams.
• You will join a sophisticated team of top-tier design talent. This environment fosters rapid professional growth through peer-to-peer feedback, exposure to cross-channel methodologies, and the opportunity to utilize cutting-edge tools (including AI asset generation).
• If you view feedback as a tool for growth, you will thrive here. This organization values design storytelling and provides a supportive platform where your rationales are heard, your iterations are encouraged, and your role as a user advocate is respected.
Responsibilities
• Experience Innovation: Transform complex problems into elegant experiences through ideation, concept development, and experience innovation.
• Artifact Creation: Create sketches, wireframes, specifications, prototypes, scenarios, and storyboards to effectively communicate conceptual ideas and detailed designs.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure design intent is successfully achieved, and partner with product and business SMEs.
• User Advocacy: Advocate for the user throughout the entire project lifecycle, utilizing research, analytics, heuristics, or prior learnings to inform design decisions.
• Research & Testing: Participate in observational studies, usability testing, and other customer research to gather insights and validate design approaches.
• Strategic Contribution: Contribute to shaping the strategic experience design approach for key projects and initiatives, ensuring digital experiences support essential business value chains (e.g., acquisition, engagement, advice, and retention).
• Industry Trends: Stay abreast of current design methodologies, practices, AI tools, and industry trends.
Qualifications
• Education: A degree in design or a design-related discipline (e.g., industrial design, user-centred design, visual design, design strategy, design management, human factors, psychology, human-computer interaction).
• Experience: 5–7 years of overall experience as a UX Designer (with a strong preference for those with deep UX and digital experience).
• Technical Proficiency: 5+ years of hands-on experience with Figma. Familiarity with AI design tools (e.g., Figma AI, Claude Design).
• Stakeholder Management: Proven experience presenting design work and articulating design rationales to non-design stakeholders (product, business SMEs, etc.).
• Navigating Ambiguity: Comfort navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and stakeholder feedback quickly and constructively without over-indexing on consensus.
• Execution & Iteration: Ability to take direction, simplify complicated flows, synthesize feedback, and iterate rapidly.
• Strategic Thinking: Experience translating business problems into design opportunities rather than just executing handed-off requirements.
• Domain Knowledge: Understanding of how digital experiences support banking value chains (acquisition → engagement → advice → retention).
• Organization: Strong organizational skills including detailed documentation, versioning, and decision tracking with a meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience or proficiency with Microsoft Copilot.
• Strong prototyping skills demonstrated through various techniques (sketch, paper, wireframe, video, or interactive prototypes).
• Solid understanding of web and mobile technologies.
