As a principal QA specialist, you will bridge the gap between technical leads, testing teams, and business partners throughout the complete Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will lead functional, non-functional, integration, cloud, and specialized user acceptance testing (UAT). Conduct accessibility compliance audits and remediation using AODA standards and tools such as AXE and WAVE.
Generate and manage complex test data to support technical and business functional validation across all testing phases.
Document, track, manage, and facilitate the resolution of defects and system bottlenecks using test management tools like Azure DevOps and Microfocus ALM.
Collaborate with project leads, developers, and business stakeholders to align testing activities with delivery milestones and support operational deployment.
Qualifications
Core Requirements & Testing Mastery
QA & Testing Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in process planning, organizing, and executing comprehensive testing efforts for large-scale systems.
Test Management Tooling: Extensive hands-on experience using test management platforms such as Azure DevOps and Microfocus ALM (12.5 or later).
Delivery Methodologies: Proven working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including Agile, DevOps, and Waterfall methodologies.
Accessibility Auditing: Demonstrated experience conducting AODA compliance audits and remediation using tools such as AXE and WAVE.
Database & Querying Skills: Proficiency using SQL, DB2, IMS, Oracle, and data query tools to inspect databases and validate test results.
Technical Environment Capabilities
Cloud & Web Services: Hands-on experience testing within cloud environments (Microsoft Azure), web technologies (.NET, Java), and web services/APIs using ReadyAPI.
Legacy & Integration Systems: Experience testing mainframe environments (TSO/SPF), payment gateway services (MPG/EPS), and enterprise relational databases across Windows and UNIX platforms.
Automation & Scripting: Knowledge of programming languages, automated testing tools, and script development for automated test execution.
Soft Skills & Collaboration
Analytical Problem Solving: Superior analytical, decision-making, and diagnostic skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues.
