Our client, is seeking an experienced, high-caliber Project Manager/Scrum master to facilitate and optimize a suite of cross-functional engineering squads.
...
In this critical agile delivery role, you will support squads responsible for building trusted, scalable, and governed data products that empower enterprise decision-making across analytics, reporting, digital, marketing, e-commerce, and supply chain initiatives. You will act as the vital bridge connecting Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Cloud Platform Teams, Governance Specialists, and Product Owners. Your mission is to maximize squad velocity, drive Jira intake discipline, resolve complex infrastructure dependencies, and ensure that data pipelines, curated datasets, and executive dashboards are delivered smoothly within a modern cloud ecosystem.
Duration: 6 months.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Greater Toronto Area/GTA based, with a requirement to work from the corporate office once a month, scaling up to once a week based on project cutovers or deliverables).
Advantages
Enterprise Cloud Data Footprint: Lead highly specialized agile squads handling massive, cloud-scale data engineering pipelines and advanced business intelligence (BI) systems.
Modern Platform Exposure: Deepen your technical delivery portfolio across top-tier technologies including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, Looker, and Airflow orchestration engines.
Complex Cross-Functional Leadership: Direct multi-layered delivery frameworks that manage dependencies between backend software engineering, data science models, and front-facing commercial product lines.
Data-Informed Continuous Improvement: Champion squad growth by engineering metrics dashboards focused on throughput, carryover rates, blocker trends, and production defect triage patterns.
Responsibilities
Agile Ceremony Facilitation & Delivery Management
Scrum Process Governance: Lead and optimize all core Scrum and Kanban ceremonies—including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews/Demos, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinements—for data and analytics squads.
Impediment Removal: Proactively identify and dismantle structural roadlocks related to requirement ambiguities, data access controls, environment readiness, cross-team handoffs, and QA/UAT constraints.
Jira Backlog & Intake Ownership: Govern the intake pipeline by ensuring incoming business requests are triaged, prioritized, routed, and broken down into actionable user stories containing explicit acceptance criteria and Definitions of Ready (DoR).
Continuous Tracking, Risks & Release Coordination
Platform Dependency Mapping: Assess delivery risks and capacity constraints across public cloud platforms (GCP, BigQuery, Looker, Dataform), coordinating structural mitigation paths with Principal Architects and Lead Engineers.
Artifact Lifecycle Maintenance: Author and govern precise delivery artifacts—including Jira epics, stories, dependency logs, RAID logs, release notes, and central Confluence technical repositories.
Release & Support Management: Coordinate production release readiness, deployment calendars, hypercare activities, bug triage, and business-as-usual (BAU) operational handoffs to ensure minimal disruption to production.
Leadership Metrics Reporting: Prepare and present concise, leadership-facing status updates tracking sprint health, RAID logs, milestone progress, throughput analytics, and data-quality telemetry.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 7+ years of progressive professional experience operating as a dedicated Scrum Master, Agile Project Coordinator, or equivalent delivery lead supporting software engineering, data analytics, cloud platforms, or enterprise reporting teams.
Methodological Expertise: Expert, deep knowledge of Agile principles, Kanban workflows, Scrum frameworks, sprint planning mechanics, and Agile delivery metrics.
Agile Tool Mastery: Highly advanced working knowledge of Jira and Confluence for intake routing, backlog grooming, and executive progress virtualization.
Data Domain Literacy: Clear conceptual understanding of fundamental data analytics parameters—including data pipelines, ETL/ELT pipelines, metrics dashboards, data quality validation, and UAT data mapping.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent practical industry work experience.
Mandatory Certification: Must hold an active, industry-recognized Scrum Master certification (e.g., Certified Scrum Master / CSM or equivalent).
Soft Skills: Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. Proven capability to influence without authority across matrixed tech and business squads, translating complex technical risks into clear updates for executive audiences.
Nice-to-Have Skills & Assets
Previous professional experience operating specifically within a large-scale Retail, E-commerce, or omni-channel digital environment.
Hands-on familiarity with the GCP data stack (BigQuery, Looker, Airflow/Cloud Composer, Dataform, Dataplex) and foundational SQL concepts.
Experience supporting leadership-level status reporting frameworks (RAID logs, weekly milestone health dashboards, and stakeholder action items).
Summary
If you are a tech-savvy Scrum Master who combines elite sprint coaching with a firm grasp of cloud data structures and cross-team dependency mapping, this GTA-based contract offers an exceptional challenge. Bring your Jira discipline, data engineering familiarity, and assertive facilitation style to a market-leading enterprise team today!
